'Real Right, real enlistment': Former UN amb. Gilad Erdan announces name of new 'Unity Party'

Former Israeli ambassador to the UN Gilad Erdan revealed on Tuesday the name of the new right-wing party he leads, the Unity Party. The unveiling took place during an event in Beit Shemesh, where MK Aliza Bloch joined the party. The party's slogan is "Real right. Real enlistment." Erdan declared, "I am proud to announce here, in Beit Shemesh: The name of our party is Unity. The Unity Party."

Erdan emphasized that the Unity Party's formation is not due to agreement on all issues but rather due to the lack of alternatives. He explained, "Unity means enlistment by everyone. Unity means shared responsibility. Unity is our path, unity is our commitment, unity - is our name! And we will fight for it without compromise!"

Erdan's party was launched only last week, alongside MK Yuli Edelstein, a former Likud member. Together, they vow to uphold right-wing principles and universal IDF conscription. MK Edelstein recently left Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's ruling Likud Party.

During the party's launch in Tel Aviv, Erdan outlined policies advocating for haredi (ultra-Orthodox) conscription into the IDF, addressing the military's manpower shortage. He stated, "The law will establish a simple principle: In the State of Israel, every citizen has rights, but also responsibilities."

When asked about potential coalition partners, Erdan emphasized that his party would not join what he termed a "narrow government."
