QRCS launches project for kidney patients in Yemen

The Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) inaugurated a dialysis centre at Ibn Khaldoun Hospital in Al-Hawtah, Yemen’s Lahej Governorate. This marks the governorate’s first specialized dialysis facility. The centre was built and equipped for nearly $1.5 million, offering dialysis services and medical consultations to kidney-failure patients in Lahj and surrounding areas.

During the ceremony, Yemen's Minister of Public Health and Population, Dr Qasim Mohamed Bahibah, highlighted the centre's significance, calling it a "major infrastructure asset" that provides high-quality care and prevents patients from traveling to other governorates for treatment. Lahej Governor Murad Al-Halimi commended QRCS's humanitarian and developmental support, emphasizing the upgrade of the governorate's healthcare services.

Dr Khaled Gaber, director of Public Health and Population for the Lahej Office, termed the centre a "quantum leap" in specialized healthcare services. He noted that it would provide beneficiaries with more convenient and regular access to dialysis.
