PSC deploys monitoring team to Osun, warns police officers against misconduct

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has sent a monitoring team to Osun State ahead of the upcoming governorship election on August 15, 2026. The delegation, led by DIG Taiwo Lakanu (retd.), will ensure police personnel maintain discipline and professionalism during the election. The PSC emphasized the importance of safeguarding the election's integrity and boosting public confidence in the electoral process.

They urged all deployed officers to remain apolitical, conduct themselves professionally, and protect citizens' rights to vote freely and peacefully. Any police officer found to have compromised the election's credibility would face sanctions. The PSC currently has 15,000 police officers deployed in preparation for the election, which will see 14 political parties contesting for the governorship seat.
