Provide Adequate Resources For ICT – Govt Urged

The Association of District Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Coordinators in the Greater Accra Region have strongly urged the government to provide all pre-tertiary institutions across the country with essential ICT tools and resources. The aim is to promote effective teaching and learning, and ensure equal opportunities for learners regardless of their location.

Mr. Felix Kwaku Hini, Chairman of the Association, explained that such a provision would level the playing field, allowing learners from all backgrounds to access high-quality education.

While acknowledging the government's efforts in providing ICT tools in schools nationwide, the Association calls for increased support, particularly for rural areas that currently lack computers and internet services. This appeal was made at the conclusion of a two-day capacity-building workshop organized by Uniwiz Foundation, a Ghana-based ICT advocacy and promotional non-governmental organization, in partnership with the Ghana Education Service (GES).

The workshop aimed to equip participants with advanced tools, practical skills, and strategies to enhance educational technology across Ghana.

Larry Wisdom Quarme-Doe, the CEO of Uniwiz Foundation, emphasized the importance of investing in educators to drive a sustainable tech-driven future for students. He stressed that technology has become a fundamental component of modern learning, far surpassing its role as an optional add-on to education. During the event, Simeone Giger, the Swiss Ambassador to Ghana, expressed the Embassy's enthusiasm in supporting the initiative, citing the rapidly evolving ICT landscape and the need for education practitioners to stay updated.

Hajia Katumi Natongmah Attah, the Greater Accra Regional Director of Education, thanked all partners and sponsors for their contributions and encouraged the workshop participants to utilize the acquired knowledge to train the nation's workforce.
