Prof Bokpin laments poor road network, calls for emergency action on Accra-Kumasi highway

Financial economist Professor Godfred Bokpin has expressed deep concern over the poor state of Ghana's road network, particularly the Accra-Kumasi highway and the Tema-Accra Motorway. He questioned why, despite advances in education and technical knowledge, the current generation of roads is deteriorating significantly compared to roads built by Ghana's forefathers who had less education and resources.

Bokpin lamented that it took travelers almost ten hours to travel between Accra and Kumasi five years ago, but now it could take up to ten hours due to the deteriorating road conditions. He expressed worry about the increased travel time and the dangerous situation for motorists and passengers. Bokpin suggested that the government should declare a state of emergency on the Accra-Kumasi highway to expedite urgent repairs and prevent further accidents.
