President walks to office, eats once daily — NRS boss defends Tinubu

Zacch Adedeji, the Executive Chairman of Nigeria's Revenue Service, has defended President Bola Tinubu against claims of an extravagant lifestyle. Adedeji made these remarks during an interview with Channels Television, responding to questions about the lifestyles of political leaders in the wake of economic hardship and concerns over government spending.

According to Adedeji, Tinubu does not indulge in luxury living despite the privileges that come with his office. He stated that the President often walks from his residence to his office and only uses a vehicle for travel to the airport. Adedeji dismissed reports of a convoy of luxury vehicles, including Escalades, attached to the President's convoy, arguing that there is nothing unusual about the President having access to such vehicles given his position.

The NRS boss also addressed concerns over Tinubu's eating habits, noting that the President eats only once a day. He further dismissed suggestions that the President has been living a lavish lifestyle, pointing out that in recent months, he has not left Nigerian soil and has been busy reviewing documents. Adedeji questioned how often the President attends social events, suggesting that his activities do not indicate a lavish lifestyle.
