Police seize 1.055kg heroin, arrest man in Simpang Renggam

Police uncovered 1.055kg of suspected heroin, valued at RM10,128, and apprehended a 42-year-old individual during a narcotics operation in Simpang Renggam this morning. Kluang police chief Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Noh disclosed that the suspect, with an extensive criminal and drug history of 11 prior offenses, also tested positive for morphine.

He elaborated, "The suspect has been remanded for a period of seven days, until August 17." The investigation pertains to Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which pertains to drug trafficking.

The incident occurred concurrently with a separate collision on the North-South Expressway, near KM73.3. A lorry driver lost his life while two others sustained injuries in a multi-vehicle accident. At approximately 11.15am, a Foton lorry, operated by a 31-year-old driver from Johor Baru en route to Kuala Lumpur, failed to halt in time due to heavy traffic.

This led to a chain reaction when the lorry collided with a stationary Mitsubishi Fuso truck in the left lane, subsequently impacting two other Hino lorries. The Foton driver sustained fatal head injuries at the scene, while the Mitsubishi driver and his attendant sustained significant bodily injuries. They were transported to Hospital Sultanah Nora Ismail in Batu Pahat for medical attention.

A total of four lorry drivers were involved, with two remaining unharmed. The collision is currently under investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
