PN abaikan tanggungjawab kepada pendeposit TH, kata Syed Saddiq

Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman criticized the National Justice Front (PN) for boycotting a special session of the Dewan Rakyat due to the Royal Malaysian Commission (RCI) report on the Tabung Haji (TH). The Muar MP stated that other parliamentarians have duties to perform even if the Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is unwell. "I also agree that there are many criticisms based on the way the government manages the country and the recovery plan for the Tabung Haji," he added.

Saddiq emphasized that Parliament is not a stage for a single individual. "Only because the Prime Minister is ill, it doesn't mean we need to stop working," he said during the session. He expressed disappointment in not fulfilling their role as paid MPs with guaranteed salaries, pensions, and allowances for their work. Saddiq highlighted that the RCI report is not about the Prime Minister or any political party but concerns the welfare of millions of TH depositors.

"The fact is, over 10 million Muslim depositors expect us as MPs to take responsibility and find a comprehensive solution to protect their interests and dignity," he said. PAS initiated the move to leave the House, but a Bersatu MP disagreed and stayed inside. The RCI report, classified and released to the public on July 29, 2023, four years after the commission completed its investigation in July 2022, revealed serious weaknesses in TH's management, investment, and financial management, raising concerns about significant losses to the organization.
