Phuket rushes to save 19-year-old Russian man after emergency

Phuket authorities have taken urgent action to assist a 19-year-old Russian man who experienced a medical emergency at a residence in the Sam Kong area of the province. On August 11, 2026, Pol. Lt. Col. Wiriyaphong Srinuanpan, deputy investigation inspector at Kathu Police Station, received an alert about a foreign man attempting to harm himself within a building.

The Kathu Police Station informed Chief Pol. Col. Chalermchai Hoensawat, who dispatched officers to the scene at Pruksa Ville Sam Kong village, located in Moo 5, Soi 4, Subdistrict Kathu, district Kathu.

Upon arrival, authorities encountered the man's wife, who identified him as Roman Popov, a Russian national. She recounted that arguments between the couple began around 4:00, following which the man displayed concerning behavior indicative of repeated self-harm attempts. She immediately attempted to intervene, calling for emergency assistance.

At around 9:30, she located her severely affected husband and began providing aid before alerting rescuers. The Kusoldharm Phuket Foundation responded promptly, performing CPR and transporting the patient to the ambulance for continued treatment. Eventually, Roman Popov was transferred to Vachira Phuket Hospital for further medical care.

The police are actively investigating the incident, questioning the individuals involved in the incident. Despite his critical condition, Popov is currently under close medical supervision, with healthcare professionals continuing to provide treatment and support.
