Peter Obi warns against accepting unverified credentials in leadership

He stressed that a nation that tolerates unverified academic credentials at any level of leadership, regardless of the individual involved, puts at risk the very standards that underpin a functioning society. Obi argued that this issue is not about an individual, but about the broader standards, accountability, and the values that should be inherited by future generations.

He cautioned that normalizing the excuse for blurred, missing, questionable, or unverified credentials could have far-reaching consequences, potentially allowing individuals who lack proper qualifications, such as professors without university education or doctors without medical training, to hold positions of responsibility. He urged Nigeria to build a society where standards, accountability, and truth are not subject to partisan politics, emphasizing that history will judge leaders not just by who they support, but by the principles they uphold.
