Parliamentary committee welcomes U.S. House resolution honoring Korean War veterans

The South Korean parliamentary foreign affairs committee expressed gratitude on Tuesday for a recently proposed U.S. House resolution honoring Korean War veterans. This bipartisan measure recognizes the significant contributions and sacrifices made by those who served during the 1950-53 conflict and those who have continued to protect the Korean Peninsula since the armistice was signed.

Rep. Song Seog-jun of the main opposition People Power Party welcomed the resolution during a meeting at the National Assembly. He emphasized that the contributions of U.S. service members and those from other United Nations member states, fighting alongside South Korea, were instrumental in shaping South Korea into the nation it is today. Song highlighted the enduring importance of remembering the sacrifices made, ensuring they are passed on to future generations while promoting peace and prosperity in the region.

The resolution was introduced by Reps. Lois Frankel (D-FL) and Gus Bilirakis (R-FL) on the occasion of the 73rd anniversary of the armistice signing, a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts to maintain stability on the Korean Peninsula.
