Osun election: I’m not afraid of Federal might, says Adeleke

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, a candidate for the Accord Party in the upcoming August 15 governorship election, has stated that he is not afraid of the Federal Government's influence or the support from some state governors for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate. At an Arise Townhall Meeting, Adeleke called himself a "bulldozer" and expressed readiness to face what he called "Federal might" and the influence of governors backing his opponent.

He dismissed claims that the presence of governors campaigning for the APC candidate would affect the election outcome. Adeleke stated that if the governors wish to bring their support, they are free to do so, but they cannot vote in the election as they are not eligible. He described the governors as his friends, emphasizing that their presence in the state would not translate into votes for his opponent.

Adeleke also denied allegations that his administration had militarized the state, noting that he lacks constitutional powers to deploy the armed forces. As political parties ramp up their campaigns and voter engagement efforts ahead of the election, Adeleke's assertion that he is unafraid of the Federal Government's support for the APC candidate adds a significant dimension to the highly anticipated contest.
