Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson, Dr Majed bin Mohammed al-Ansari, confirmed that talks between Oman and Iran regarding the Strait of Hormuz are at a critical juncture. He praised the progress made in the negotiations, emphasizing that the restoration of freedom of navigation through the strategic waterway is the minimum requirement to ensure stability in the region.
Al-Ansari noted that Qatar is closely monitoring the ongoing dialogue between Oman and Iran, expressing its support for de-escalation efforts. The spokesperson highlighted the importance of adhering to international law in resolving disputes over the Strait, stressing that any delay in reaching an agreement would jeopardize regional security.
He reiterated Qatar's position that the Strait should be reopened immediately, while leaving the specifics of the negotiations to the parties involved.
