Oddly, Hadi rants as PAS plans ‘peace and harmony’ tea party

Earlier this week, a good friend who is a passionate PAS activist reached out to me with an invitation to a high tea in Shah Alam on August 16. Organized by the PAS Ulama Council, the event aims to bring together Christians. Abdul Rahman Kassim, the party enthusiast, encouraged me to attend and bring two friends along.

The party's guest of honor, Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar, is the PAS candidate who could become prime minister if PAS and its allies secure the most seats in the upcoming general election. Rahman's enthusiasm was palpable on the phone, urging my attendance. However, I decided to prioritize the DAP congress, which also took place on the same day.

In the past, I had attended PAS-hosted functions at Rahman's invitation, even questioning Islamist ideology. While these events were part of the party's outreach to non-Muslims, particularly Christians, I found them to be more of an exchange of pious platitudes, failing to foster any meaningful understanding between attendees and the hosts. Reflecting on this, I recalled the saying that the road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Recently, PAS supremo Abdul Hadi Awang posted a venomous statement about the DAP, echoing his usual rhetoric. It's puzzling why Hadi chose to repeat his absurdities about the DAP just when PAS is organizing a 'peace and harmony' gathering. This event does not seem to include a question-and-answer session. If there is one, I would be keen to inquire whether Hadi subscribes to his supremo's absurdities regarding the DAP.
