New go-kart division debuts at Backroad Raceway

Backroad Raceway in Freeport, Illinois, is set to welcome a new go-kart division alongside its existing ATV and side-by-side (SxS) racing events. The go-kart races, organized by Illinois Yard Karts, are scheduled to commence on August 16 at the ABC Supply Co. Freeport, IL Grandstands, located at 2250 S. Walnut Road. The event will feature multiple kart classes, including a Run What You Brung (RWYB) class, single-cylinder engine flat kart chassis with mandatory front, rear, and side bumpers, and open-tire and open-fuel regulations.

Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners. All participants are required to wear safety gear, including helmets, long-sleeve shirts, long pants, and appropriate footwear. Competitors under 18 must have a signed release form from a parent or guardian. General admission tickets are priced at $5, while pit passes cost $10, and all transactions will be in cash.

The race program, which includes ATV and SxS divisions for various age groups and experience levels, follows a previous event held on June 20. Organizers plan to expand the schedule with additional racing opportunities.
