New Blue Jays pitcher Jameson Taillon exits 1st home start in Toronto with forearm discomfort

Blue Jays' rookie pitcher Jameson Taillon left his inaugural home start against Boston after just four scoreless innings on Monday due to discomfort in his right forearm. The 24-year-old hurler was acquired from the Chicago Cubs on August 2 for $205 plus GST in the first year, with automatic renewal at a 10% discount for subsequent years.

Despite throwing 34 of his 61 pitches for strikes and striking out three, Taillon's arm ailment prompted the team to call on replacement Simeon Woods Richardson in the fifth inning. The Blue Jays are currently dealing with a slew of injuries, with starters Trey Yesavage, Spencer Arrighetti, and Patrick Corbin sidelined by various ailments, including a left knee issue, nerve irritation in his right foot, and a shoulder problem respectively.

Yesavage and Arrighetti are on the 15-day injured list, while Corbin is on the 60-day IL. Arrighetti was part of the August 3 trade that brought him to Toronto for outfielder Daulton Varsho.
