Ndia MP George Kariuki begins 3-month consultations as he eyes national seat

Ndia Member of Parliament George Kariuki has opened his home in Kirinyaga County for political consultations that will last three months, aiming to determine his future political trajectory. These consultations will begin in the Mt Kenya region before expanding nationwide, with the gathered views expected to guide his political direction ahead of the 2027 general election.

Kariuki's initiative comes as the Mt Kenya region debates its future political direction, with the Deputy President position emerging as a key bargaining chip. The region's leaders are pushing for the community to retain the deputy president post in exchange for supporting President William Ruto's re-election bid in 2027. Kariuki hosted women grassroots leaders from his Ndia Constituency and Othaya in Nyeri County to announce the consultations.

He hopes to assess his popularity beyond Kirinyaga and explore the possibility of seeking a national political position. The MP, who previously considered running for Kirinyaga County Governor, now sees a bigger dream beyond leading the county. He is positioning himself as a bridge between Mt Kenya East and West, emphasizing the strategic importance of Kirinyaga in uniting the region.

Kariuki urges Kenyans to elect leaders based on their track record, values, experience, manifesto, and ability to deliver, rather than political affiliations. He criticizes threatening political rhetoric and calls for a more informed voter base.
