Representatives from various associations from the South-west geopolitical zone convened for the conference. The NCWS called for increased mobilization and awareness-raising among women, advocating for a rise in women's representation in political positions of responsibility.
Additionally, the council urged women to seek out more political and elective positions and called for their empowerment through access to low-interest loans to establish and expand their businesses.
The NCWS also encouraged educated women to mentor and support those with less education, while urging men to stop relegating women to secondary roles in all aspects of life. To further promote their cause, the council recommended heightened media coverage of their activities, including jingles, interviews, and other platforms to showcase the achievements of their members.
Furthermore, the NCWS plans to host a significant meeting where political stakeholders and influential figures will pledge their support for women. The organization, which was registered in 1965, envisions celebrating the centennial birthday of Dr. Adetoun Ogunsheye, Nigeria's first female professor, on December 5, 2026.
