Nasarawa varsity ASUU declares indefinite strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) chapter at Nasarawa State University (NSUK) has announced a comprehensive and indefinite strike. This decision was made after the union's meeting on Monday, as reported by the branch's Chairperson, Zubairu Loko. The strike is being declared due to the ongoing failure to implement the 2025 Federal Government-ASUU agreement, along with other unresolved issues impacting academic staff at the university.

The union expressed disappointment in their inability to achieve satisfactory implementation or resolve the local issues through various attempts at dialogue and engagement with relevant authorities. The decision to strike was taken during a branch congress, following the ongoing non-compliance with the agreement and unresolved concerns.

The ASUU union had previously sought and received approval from the National Executive Council (NEC) before initiating the industrial action. The union emphasized the importance of respecting and honoring agreements between parties, and highlighted that all parties must adhere to and fulfill the terms of these agreements.
