Nakashima, Jodar reach first Masters 1000 semi-finals in Canada

Ben Shelton demonstrated a standout performance on Tuesday, defeating Jakub Mensik 6-3 6-1 to advance to the Canadian Open semi-finals. The 23-year-old American showcased his aggressive game, committing only three unforced errors throughout the match. Following a flawless opening set, Shelton broke Mensik's serve in the second set and sealed the victory when Mensik made a critical error on match point.

Shelton, speaking to Tennis Channel, expressed his excitement and emphasized building confidence as he prepares for the U.S. Open. In the same tournament, Brandon Nakashima and Rafael Jodar secured their first Masters 1000 semi-finals. Nakashima, seeded 28, dominated Italy's Luciano Darderi 6-2 6-3, while Jodar defeated France's Arthur Fils 7-6(5) 6-3.

Both players will face each other in the semi-finals, with Jodar aiming to climb at least 11 spots in the rankings. The Canadian Open was held without several top players, including world number one Jannik Sinner and 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic, due to the sport's workload.
