Mahama makes key appointments to reorganise National Security Council Secretariat

President John Dramani Mahama has recently approved a significant reorganization within the National Security Council Secretariat. This update, announced on August 11, 2026, immediately implements new leadership roles across various critical components of Ghana's national security framework. The alterations affect areas such as operations, intelligence, logistics, human security, and special investigations.

Among the key personnel appointed are Major (Rtd.) General William Ayamdo, who has been designated as the Deputy National Security Coordinator (Operations); Yaw Donkor, the former National Security Coordinator, who now serves as the Director of Intelligence and Research at the National Security Advisor's Office; Adamu Saaka, newly appointed as Director of Logistics and Transport; Faustina Effah-Boadi, appointed Officer in Charge of the Human Security Department; and DCOP (Rtd.)

Peter Ndekugri, who has been given the responsibility of leading the Special Investigations Unit. These changes are designed to strengthen and streamline the country's security operations by placing seasoned professionals in pivotal positions. Additionally, ACP Alhassan Osman has been reassigned to the Ghana Police Service for further service.

These strategic appointments and reassignments are immediately effective, signaling a proactive approach to enhancing Ghana's national security apparatus.
