Lawmakers, SANs now defend forgery, religious leaders pray for criminals – Peter Obi

The Nigeria Democratic Congress presidential candidate, Peter Obi, recently accused lawmakers, members of the House of Representatives, and Senior Advocates of Nigeria of defending forgery in the country. During a speech in Bauchi, Obi also criticized religious leaders for praying for criminals.

Obi claimed that lawmakers have removed forgery as an offense in electoral matters, while the Senior Advocates of Nigeria are now defending forgery. He further accused religious leaders of offering blessings to politicians, which he sees as a sign of the country's crisis.

The NDC candidate also pointed out that judges in Nigeria often stand by the mandate of politicians, making it difficult to challenge election results. Obi shared a personal anecdote about a Supreme Court justice he had never met who wrote a judgment that ultimately led to his election as governor.

He questioned the legitimacy of such judgments, stating that it is impossible to obtain such rulings in today's Nigeria. Obi urged all Nigerians to reflect on the current state of the nation and ask themselves, "Where is Nigeria going?"
