Kiraitu: Kindiki’s coronation by Njuri Ncheke gives him fresh mandate to unite Mt Kenya

Former Meru governor Kiraitu Murungi has voiced his support for Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, believing he is the most suitable candidate to unite the Mt Kenya region and support President William Ruto’s re-election campaign in 2027. Kindiki was recently appointed by the Njuri Ncheke Council of Elders as the region’s spokesman, granting him a renewed mandate to bring together political factions in the area before the next General Election.

Speaking to the People Daily at his home in Nkubu, Kiraitu highlighted Kindiki's competence, education, and professionalism, describing him as a capable leader who can consolidate the region and restore unity among its political leaders. The crowning of Kindiki at the Nchiru Shrine in Tigania West symbolized the region's desire for unity, as it was seen as a crucial symbol for peace and harmony.

Kiraitu emphasized that political differences within Mt Kenya are typical in a democratic society but should not undermine the region's bargaining power at the national level. He urged the residents to back Kindiki and President Ruto for the upcoming elections, dismissing calls for dividing the region and reiterating Njuri Ncheke's stance of unity.
