Karachi Civil Hospital Ordered to Pay Rs. 6.5 Million to Woman Over Botched Surgery

A Karachi court has ordered the Civil Hospital Karachi to pay Rs. 6.5 million in compensation to a woman who claims she suffered multiple health complications following an incorrect surgery at the facility. The case was brought by Najma Rizwan against the hospital in the court of the Senior Civil Judge South. After hearing the arguments and reviewing the evidence, the court ruled in favor of Rizwan and ordered the hospital to settle the dispute within 60 days.

Rizwan's lawyer informed the court that she was admitted to Civil Hospital on November 3, 2015, for childbirth surgery and discharged on November 6. However, her health began to decline after her release from the hospital, with symptoms including abdominal pain, swelling, and other medical issues. This prompted her family to seek additional treatment at another hospital, where it was discovered that an incorrect surgery had been performed at Civil Hospital.

The lawyer argued that negligence during the procedure led to Rizwan's worsening condition. The court upheld Rizwan's claim and directed the hospital to pay the damages within the given timeframe. The case of a woman allegedly harmed by a botched surgery at Karachi Civil Hospital has now been settled.
