JUST IN: Air Peace resumes flights following airport picketing

Air Peace has resumed flights following disruptions caused by airport picketing by aviation unions on Tuesday. The airline's spokesperson, Efe Whiskey, confirmed to PUNCH Online that operations are underway despite the pickets in Lagos, Enugu, and Abuja, major hubs for the carrier. Whiskey stated that the unions targeted Air Peace specifically because its employees declined to join their union, despite Air Peace having already paid the required 5% Ticket Sales Charge to the regulatory body, NCAA.

He added that the airline had anticipated potential picketing after its chairman raised concerns about the planned action, which was previously announced in Aviation magazine. Whiskey questioned why Air Peace was singled out, as other Nigerian airlines like Ibom Air, Enugu Air, and Aero operated flights on the same day. The airline spokesperson emphasized that Air Peace staff oppose joining the unions, stating that they held a peaceful protest before the disruptions occurred.
