Jun Hao eyes another Indian miracle against Shi Feng at World Champs

KUALA LUMPUR - Malaysian badminton player Leong Jun Hao is aiming for another Indian miracle against China's Li Shi Feng when they potentially face each other in the second round of the World Championships in New Delhi next week. Jun Hao is set to face Brazil's Jonathan Matias in the opening round before taking on the world No. 9 Li Shi Feng at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium.

Jun Hao has a 8-1 head-to-head record against Li Shi Feng, with his only win against the Chinese shuttler achieved at the India Open in January last year in a different Indian stadium, the K.D. Jhadav Indoor Stadium. Jun Hao, currently ranked world No. 28, is confident he can bring his best against Li Shi Feng, who is known for his consistent attacking game. He acknowledges that to beat the formidable opponent, he needs to be more consistent in his own play.

The 27-year-old Malaysian has been preparing for the prestigious tournament for the past three weeks, and he reports that everything is progressing smoothly. While the short preparation period may not allow for significant adjustments to his game, Jun Hao remains confident that he can maintain his consistency and compete effectively at the World Championships, which begin on August 17.
