It is un-Islamic, Kaduna activist condemns Jingir’s ‘infidels’ comment

Kaduna-based activist Mahdi Shehu has strongly criticized Islamic cleric Sheikh Sani Jingir for describing Christians as "infidels," stating that the remark is reckless and against Islamic teachings. Shehu made his stance clear on social media, accusing Jingir of making "unguarded, inciting and reckless statements" and disputing the Quran's description of Christians as "People of the Book."

He warned that such comments could hinder peaceful coexistence between Christians and Muslims, particularly in Northern Nigeria, where peace remains fragile. Shehu appealed to Christians who found the remarks offensive not to generalize Jingir's position to the broader Muslim community, emphasizing that it does not represent the views of most Muslims.
