It is un-Islamic, Kaduna activist condemns Jingir’s ‘infidels’ comment

Kaduna activist Mahdi Shehu has condemned Islamic cleric Sheikh Sani Jingir’s recent description of Christians as "infidels", calling it reckless and contrary to Islamic teachings. Shehu argued that the comment undermines efforts to promote peaceful coexistence between Christians and Muslims, particularly in Northern Nigeria where peace is fragile.

He warned that the cleric's "unschooled statement" could trigger a reversal of efforts to build peaceful coexistence. Shehu also accused Jingir of seeking political patronage by making the controversial comments. While acknowledging Christians' right to be offended, Shehu urged them to distinguish between Jingir's position and that of other Muslims.
