iPhone Users Who Pay for Enough iCloud Storage Get New iOS 27 Perks

If you possess a subscription to an iCloud+ plan with a minimum of 2TB of storage, iOS 27 will grant you access to three novel Apple Intelligence features within the Home app, according to Apple. These new features comprise generated video descriptions for HomeKit Secure Video cameras, the ability to search for camera clips, and automatic highlighting of noteworthy clips.

Stephen Robles, referring to the fifth developer beta of iOS 27, mentioned that he has 8TB of iCloud+ storage (6TB from his personal allocation and 2TB from Apple One) and thus qualifies for video summaries for up to 15 cameras. The Home app in iOS 27 Beta 5 displays the number of cameras that are eligible for these AI-driven features.

Initially, Robles believed he was subscribed to the highest iCloud plan, but appears he may not have been fully aware of the extent of his plan. Twitter user Stephen Robles shared screenshots, which suggest that upgrading to the maximum 12TB iCloud+ plan may offer an even greater limit. Apple has also announced that certain iCloud+ plans provide enhanced daily usage limits for other new AI features, such as image generation in the updated Image Playground app.

However, Apple has not disclosed the precise limits for each iCloud+ plan, with these details expected to be announced upon the release of iOS 27 from beta in September. Apple has limited these AI features to paying customers due to their reliance on powerful server models, which are evidently pricier to maintain. In essence, Apple is restricting these intelligence features to subscribers who have committed to higher iCloud+ plans.
