Insomniac confirms Marvel's Wolverine is 'fully playable on the disc' out of the box — just months before Sony ends physical game production for good

Insomniac Games has confirmed that Wolverine will be fully playable on a PS5 disc, according to senior project director Jess Reiner-Reed. Speaking to Eurogamer, Reiner-Reed stated that the game will be available in digital and physical versions, but it will be playable on disc when purchased. However, she urged players to download the day-one patch, which is currently being used to polish and fix any bugs before release.

Head of technology Mike Fitzgerald added that the team is perfectionists, working to make every small adjustment to enhance the game. Despite Sony's announcement to phase out physical game production, the company has remained committed to this plan. PlayStation fans have expressed their opinions on the latest Wolverine trailer, with some specifically calling out their preference for physical games.

Insomniac focused on discussing the game itself during previews, rather than the disc issue. Wolverine is set to launch on PS5 on September 16.
