I won’t be part of this selective justice – Atta Akyea rejects Adu-Boahene trial during legal vacation

Former NSB Director-General Kwabena Adu-Boahene's lawyer, Samuel Atta Akyea, has rejected the decision to proceed with his client's trial during the legal vacation. In an interview on JoyFM’s Top Story, Akyea questioned the disparity in how this case is being treated compared to other criminal matters during the legal vacation. While acknowledging the judge's authority to allow the trial to continue, Akyea described it as an "aberration" that goes against the traditions of the legal profession.

He argued that during the legal vacation, only urgent matters should be handled, and this trial should not be considered an emergency. Akyea criticized the judicial system for its selective treatment of cases, pointing out that several other criminal cases remain unaddressed during this period. He also suggested that if the legal vacation was to be suspended for certain cases, the same rule should apply equally to all cases in the justice system.
