Ukraine managed to avoid power shortages and blackouts during a period of record-breaking heat thanks to several factors: the availability of reserve thermal power units, optimized repair schedules at nuclear power plants, and reduced electricity consumption, former Energy Minister Olha Buslavets told Interfax-Ukraine on Aug. 10.
