Hamer rejoins Coventry City on 'long-term' deal

Coventry City have re-signed midfielder Gustavo Hamer from Sheffield United on a long-term contract, marking the 29-year-old's return to the Sky Blues. Over three seasons at the club between 2019 and 2023, Hamer scored 19 goals in 132 appearances and received the player of the year award in the 2021-22 season. Speaking about his re-joining the team, Hamer expressed his joy at the opportunity to play in the Premier League with Coventry, stating, "It was very special."

The player emphasized that his primary goal is to give back to the fans by delivering goals, assists, and consistent performances. Hamer, who also played in the Premier League with Sheffield United during the 2023-24 season, scored 22 goals and provided 29 assists in 123 games for the Yorkshire club before his move to England. Prior to his time in England, Hamer had experience in the Dutch Eredivisie, playing for Feyenoord and PEC Zwolle.
