Google confirms its fix for broken Photos’ drag-to-select is on the way

Google Photos users are currently experiencing an issue with the drag-to-select feature, which allows them to quickly select multiple photos. This convenient function has mysteriously stopped working for numerous users, forcing them to select images individually. Google has now confirmed that a fix is in development and will be available soon.

The drag-to-select feature allows users to long-press on a photo and drag their finger across the screen to select multiple images. This is far more efficient than selecting photos one by one, particularly when dealing with a large number of images. However, this feature has inexplicably disappeared for many users in recent days.

Those who have noticed the problem describe that long-pressing a photo followed by dragging their finger does not select multiple pictures, but instead causes the screen to scroll up or down. Tapping and holding continues to enable multi-select, but users are still unable to select multiple images simultaneously. The issue has been reported by dozens of users, including those from Android Authority’s team, and is not limited to a specific model. The affected devices include various versions of Google Pixel, Samsung Galaxy, and OnePlus phones.
