Goodluck Jonathan installed as Jigon Bauchi

Former President Goodluck Jonathan was conferred the title of Jigon Bauchi by the Bauchi Emirate Council on Tuesday, honoring his contributions to Nigeria's democracy, peace, and unity. The Emir of Bauchi, Dr Rilwanu Sulaiman Adamu, presided over a colorful turbaning ceremony at the Emir’s Palace in Bauchi. Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed accompanied a delegation of government officials, political associates, and dignitaries to the palace for the event, where Jonathan was formally invested with the title.

Mohammed expressed gratitude to the Emir for recognizing Jonathan's role in promoting democratic governance and peaceful coexistence across the country, highlighting the former president's leadership and commitment to national stability. In his remarks, Jonathan thanked the Emir and the people of Bauchi State for the honor, acknowledging the privilege of the title and promising to respect its customs and uphold associated values.

The Emir commended Jonathan's exemplary conduct in public office and dedication to peace during the ceremony, which was attended by numerous traditional rulers, title holders, government officials, political leaders, and invited guests from Bauchi State and beyond.
