‘Gentle Monsters’ Trailer: Léa Seydoux Confronts a Horrifying Truth in Netflix’s Cannes Hit

Netflix’s highly anticipated thriller, "Gentle Monster," directed by Marie Kreutzer, has generated significant buzz at this year's Cannes Film Festival. The film, which premiered in competition at Cannes, will be released in theaters on October 30 and on Netflix on November 18. Ahead of its debut at the Toronto International Film Festival, Netflix released a teaser trailer for the much-discussed film.

The star-studded cast includes Léa Seydoux, Jella Haase, Laurence Rupp, and Catherine Deneuve, with a haunting original score by Camille. Seydoux plays Lucy, a talented concert pianist whose world is shattered when the police storm her home with her partner and young son. As the official Netflix synopsis reveals, Lucy's family secrets intersect with those of one of the investigating officers, whose father may be suffering from dementia and could have similar tendencies.

Critics have praised the film for its chilling, emotional storytelling, highlighting how director Kreutzer approaches the sensitive subject matter with sensitivity rather than sensationalism. In addition to her role in "Gentle Monster," Seydoux has had a busy year, starring in "The Unknown" and "Alpha Gang," and set to appear in A24's "The Masque of the Red Death."

"Gentle Monster" marks a co-production between Austria, Germany, and France, with Netflix securing distribution rights for North America, the United Kingdom, Australia, and New Zealand.
