Gambia: Gambia for All Unveils Four-Pillar Manifesto Ahead of December Election

Gambia for All (GFA) has unveiled its election manifesto for the December 2026 presidential race, outlining a four-pillar strategy addressing the country's governance, economic, social, and security issues. The party, founded by Bakary B. Darboe, a former finance minister and vice-president, emphasizes inclusivity, condemning parochialism or sectarianism based on gender, religion, ethnicity, or socio-cultural categories.

Darboe, GFA's Secretary-General and leader, highlighted the party's commitment to developing a progressive modern state with participatory democracy, clear public policy direction, and effective public affairs management. He argued that the 2016 political transition did not fully deliver on its promise of change, prompting GFA to offer a new blueprint for improvement.

The four pillars of the GFA manifesto are food security, economic transformation, human capital development, and system transformation. Food security is identified as a pressing concern, with one in three Gambian households considered food insecure according to Gambia Bureau of Statistics data. Nearly 90% of the country's rice consumption is imported, and food-related inflation has fluctuated between 10% and 20% over the past decade, while fertilizer use remains low compared to global and African standards.

GFA also addresses economic transformation, human capital development, and system transformation as critical components of its proposal for a better future. The party's manifesto, described as a "sacred social contract," aims to be a roadmap to a wealthier, fairer, and more secure nation, moving away from empty promises, political division, feudalism, and resignation.
