FAM responds to angry fans over Asean Cup ticket prices

KUALA LUMPUR: FAM has defended the increased ticket prices for Malaysia's Hyundai Asean Cup semi-final against Vietnam, following fan criticism. The adult open-category tickets for Sunday's first-leg match at the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium are now priced at RM50, a nearly 70% rise from RM30 during the group stage. Grandstand tickets are RM70, and VIP tickets are RM100, while children's tickets remain at RM5.

The price surge has prompted fans to question whether RM50 is too much for a match at KLFA Stadium, with some suggesting it would have been more reasonable if held at the larger National Stadium in Bukit Jalil. FAM responded to the criticism, stating that several factors, such as organizational, operational, and security costs, venue management, and technical requirements of staging the competition, were considered when setting ticket prices.

They also mentioned that supporters' affordability and interests were taken into account, as they remain an important part of the national team's journey. FAM emphasized that the ticket prices were set to balance organizational costs and ensure the matches remain accessible to Harimau Malaya supporters. The team hopes fans will understand the reasoning behind the ticket pricing and continue to support Harimau Malaya for the important match against Vietnam.

Malaysia will host Vietnam in the first leg at KLFA Stadium on Sunday before traveling to Hanoi for the return leg at the My Dinh National Stadium on Aug 19.
