Eagles Training Camp Practice Notes: Uar Bernard is showing some promise

On July 30, 2026, the Philadelphia Eagles held their tenth training camp practice ahead of the upcoming 2026 NFL season at the Jefferson Health Training Complex in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In this edition of practice notes, I observed several key developments in the team's preparations.

Injury reports indicated that cornerback Quinyon Mitchell went to the ground during 1-on-1 drills and was slowed to get up, seeking treatment from a trainer. Wide receiver DeVonta Smith left practice due to a hamstring issue but appeared close to returning. Tight end Makai Lemon also suffered a hamstring injury. Defensive tackle Jonathan Jones was expected to miss some time due to a shoulder issue, while wide receiver Johnny Wilson dealt with a knee injury.

Safety Cole Wisniewski left practice early due to a hamstring injury, and edge rusher Keyshawn James-Newby was sidelined with an ankle issue. Running back Dameon Pierce suffered a hamstring injury. Linebacker Chance Campbell dealt with a groin issue, and wide receiver Britain Covey suffered a hamstring injury. Running back Elijiah Mitchell and safety Tucker Large were reserves/injured, while safety S Tucker Large was a reserve/non-football injury.

The Eagles showcased promising progress from quarterback Jalen Hurts, who displayed improvement with his passing accuracy and overall performance. Hurts connected with various receivers, including a touchdown throw to Elijah Moore and a significant completion to Dontayvion Wicks. However, Hurts also faced challenges, including a pick-six by Mitchell in one-on-one drills and a dropped deep pass.

Head coach Vic Fangio highlighted Hurts' positive development throughout the camp, emphasizing his increased speed and adaptability to the new offense. Fangio noted that the Eagles' offense had undergone significant changes, giving Hurts a fresh perspective.

The team also focused on run plays, which presented unique opportunities for running backs such as Saquon Barkley. Barkley showcased his agility and effectiveness in executing runs, even when the offense was backed up against their own goal line.

Additionally, I observed notable performances from wide receivers, such as Darius Cooper, who consistently made impactful catches and evaded defenders. Hurts expressed confidence in Cooper's abilities, suggesting that he had already demonstrated significant talent and potential.
