Dodgers’ Prospect Rankings Undergo Big Change After Skubal Trade

The Los Angeles Dodgers made a significant trade for Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal, swapping three of their Top 15 prospects. This move altered their prospect rankings, with ESPN's Kiley McDaniel releasing his final Top 10 prospect rankings for every team. The Dodgers retained the first four prospects from their list, while others such as Charles Davala, Christian Zazueta, Chase Harlan and James Tibbs III moved up a few spots. Two new prospects, Zach Root and Bo Lowrence, were introduced to the rankings for the first time.

Zach Root was drafted by the Dodgers with their first pick in the 2025 draft. Although he didn't pitch professionally last season, he made an impressive debut in the Dodgers' Spring Breakout game, tying a record with eight strikeouts. He started the season in High-A, making 15 starts and posting a 2.40 ERA. Root struck out 79 batters in 60 innings and allowed just one home run before getting promoted to Double-A. At 22 years old, he's one of the Dodgers' top pitching prospects.

Bo Lowrance, the highest draft pick from the most recent draft, committed to play college ball for the University of Virginia. However, he opted to sign with the Dodgers after his first-round selection. Despite his youth, the Dodgers see promise in Lowrance's skillset and have grand plans for the 18-year-old shortstop. "We are ecstatic about landing Bo Lowrance," said Dodgers' amateur scouting director Zach Fitzpatrick.
