Delhi traffic advisory on Aug 13 for I-Day rehearsal: Key Red Fort roads closed; check routes, diversions

Delhi commuters faced significant disruptions on Wednesday as the city prepared for a full-dress rehearsal of Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort. The Delhi Traffic Police issued an advisory restricting access to certain roads around the historic monument to ensure safety and smooth operations during the event. From 4 am to 10 am, roads such as Netaji Subhash Marg, Lothian Road, S.P.

Mukherjee Marg, Chandni Chowk Road, Nishad Raj Marg, and Esplanade Road were closed to general traffic, allowing only vehicles with valid rehearsal labels to pass. Vehicles without parking labels were also prohibited from entering areas like C-Hexagon India Gate, Copernicus Marg, Mandi House, Sikandra Road, and others nearby. Interstate buses and local bus services were instructed to take alternate routes, while goods vehicles had restricted access between Nizamuddin Khatta and Wazirabad Bridge.

The advisory provided alternative routes for commuters, including suggestions to use Aurobindo Marg, Safdarjung Road, and other major roads to navigate through the city. Normal bus services resumed after 11 am, and the city returned to its usual traffic flow as the rehearsal concluded.
