Danny K pays tribute to late wife Lisa Koppel, raising awareness for colorectal cancer

Danny K has paid tribute to his late wife, Lisa Koppel, who passed away after a fight against colorectal cancer. In a post on social media, Danny, whose real name is Daniel Koppel, revealed that his wife was diagnosed with the disease in November 2023. He stated she had chosen to keep her illness private, as she didn't want pity, attention, or sympathy.

Instead, her primary wish was to shield their children from the pain of her illness and maintain their happiness and innocence. Despite facing the toughest moments, Lisa remained gentle, humble, and remarkably brave, inspiring everyone around her. Danny expressed deep gratitude to all the doctors, nurses, and healthcare professionals who took care of Lisa during her journey, both in South Africa and abroad.

He also mentioned that discussing his wife's diagnosis now is aimed at raising awareness about colorectal cancer. Previously, cancer screening was recommended starting at age 50, but recent international guidelines suggest routine screening should begin at age 45 for people at average risk. Danny emphasized that persistent symptoms should always be discussed with a doctor and properly investigated.

He added that his wife hoped one day her experience would raise awareness. The Koppel and Gundelfinger families are devastated by the loss of Lisa, who was deeply loved by all. Danny and his family are seeking prayers, compassion, and privacy as they mourn their tragic loss, hoping Lisa's illness will never define her. Instead, she will be remembered for her kindness, humility, courage, and unwavering devotion to the people who meant everything to her.
