Cincinnati: Tornado sirens ring out amid fresh flash flood warnings; CVG Airport shut- videos

On Monday, tornado sirens blared throughout Cincinnati and Hamilton County as a tornado-warned storm swept through the area. Concurrently, the National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning for Cincinnati and parts of Boone County, Kentucky, which borders Cincinnati. The affected areas include Cheviot, North College Hill, Norwood, Golf Manor, and neighboring communities within Cincinnati. CVG Airport, situated in Boone County, was placed under a shelter-in-place order due to the dangerous storm.

Videos captured by local NBC affiliate WLWT and residents like Kerry J. Zieger and Peggy Leftwich showcased the severe weather conditions. The videos depicted tornado sirens, thunderstorms, lightning, heavy rain, and flooded streets in the Cincinnati metropolitan area. Despite the worsening conditions, the city had been experiencing heavy rainfall throughout the day, originating from earlier storms in Illinois and Indiana.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington, Ohio, extended the flash flood warning for the Cincinnati metro area and northern Kentucky until 6:45 p.m. EDT. Visibilities were severely low due to the torrential rain, as reported by drivers from Cincinnati. The tornado warning, valid until 3:45 p.m. EDT, covered multiple areas within Cincinnati without any hail expected.
