In a trial of an experimental gene-editing therapy for Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a child tragically passed away one year ago in Shanghai. Meanwhile, a post hoc analysis of data from the SELECT trial indicated that semaglutide, commonly known as Wegovy, could lower the risk of dementia in older adults with obesity or cardiovascular issues.

Another study, conducted in the phase III MINT trial, revealed that inebilizumab (Uplizna) successfully reduced the frequency of myasthenia gravis exacerbations in patients who followed a specific corticosteroid taper protocol. These findings highlight the potential benefits of gene-editing therapies and certain medications in addressing debilitating conditions, while also emphasizing the need for careful consideration and monitoring in clinical trials.
