Chief Justice rejects bid to halt Adu-Boahen, Abdul-Wahab cases during legal vacation

Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie has rejected a petition from lawyers representing former National Signals Bureau Director-General Kwabena Adu-Boahen and former Chief Executive Officer of National Food and Buffer Stock Company Limited Hanan Abdul-Wahab to delay their legal proceedings until after the legal vacation. The lawyers had argued that scheduling the cases during the vacation period conflicted with long-standing judicial practices and court rules.

Despite objections from the defense teams, including former Attorney-General Godfred Yeboah Dame and Samuel Atta Akyea, the Chief Justice has decided that decisions on adjournments are matters for the courts, not administrative issues. The cases will continue during the legal vacation, with a court adjournment scheduled for August 18 for further case management.
