Cheboygan High School volleyball tournaments raise funds for seniors

Cheboygan High School hosted beach volleyball tournaments on Sunday, Aug. 9 at Gordon Turner Park to raise funds for the 2027 senior class lock-in event. The event had an upbeat atmosphere, with music and plenty of energy, as opposed to the last year's tournament which had less participation and only one competition. Seniors, underclassmen, and adults from Cheboygan and surrounding areas participated, with two separate tournaments – high school and adult divisions.

The "Kiss My Ace" team of Nolan Schley, Diem Schley, Ava Belford and Nora Bethuy won the high school title, while the "Sand Storm" squad of Gavin Smith, Madison Smith, Mackenzie Stockman, Trinity Thompson and Brayden Clark took the adult division crown. Despite the competitiveness, the tournaments provided an opportunity for players to bond and share laughs, with junior Landon Tebo noting it was a fun experience and a great way to bond with teammates.

The tournaments also featured a bake sale, with proceeds going towards the senior class lock-in event. As the new school year approaches, the event served as a way for students to connect and set the tone for the upcoming year.
