British man, 25, allegedly drunk at Changi Airport, stopped from boarding & pushed staff injuring her, to be charged

According to police reports, a 25-year-old British man will be charged on August 12 for allegedly disrupting airport operations at Changi Airport. The incident occurred on July 20, 2026, around 4:05 pm at the boarding gate of Terminal 1. The man was reportedly intoxicated and causing a nuisance, shouting loudly and annoying other passengers.

When confronted by two airline staff, the man became aggressive and used vulgar language towards one of the staff members. He was subsequently removed from the flight due to his intoxicated state. Upon learning of his exclusion from the flight, the man allegedly grew even more belligerent, pushing past the airline staff to attempt boarding the aircraft. The staff member who tried to prevent him fell to the ground, injuring her left arm and wrist.

The man then entered a restricted area of the airport without authorization, further escalating his disruptive behavior. He continued to provoke and insult security personnel attempting to calm him down. This conduct caused a 45-minute delay to the flight's departure.

The man faces multiple charges, including causing annoyance while intoxicated in a public place, using threatening, abusive, or insulting words or behavior, and unauthorized entry to a protected area. These offenses carry potential penalties of fines up to S$1,000 and imprisonment for up to six months, as well as fines up to S$5,000 and imprisonment for up to two years, depending on the specific charge.

The police emphasized their zero-tolerance stance on disruptive behavior at Changi Airport, asserting that such actions undermine the safety and smooth functioning of security and boarding processes for all passengers.
