Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly invests DACF in schools, CHPS compounds

The Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly has allocated funds from its District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) to enhance education and healthcare facilities in deprived communities. Among the ongoing projects are kindergarten blocks, a junior high school (JHS) block, and Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds. Bolgatanga's Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Roland Atanga Ayoo, revealed these initiatives during a tour of the municipality's development projects.

Ayoo explained that these projects were designed to address infrastructure gaps, especially in rural areas where access to education and healthcare is limited. He disclosed that the construction of two KG blocks with urinals at Yorogo-Gabisi and Dorongo-Aperiga, as well as a three-unit classroom block at Kulgo-Aguusi, were nearing completion.

These facilities, once completed, will be transferred to the Ghana Education Service (GES) for use. Ayoo further stated that several CHPS compounds have been completed or are nearing completion and will soon be handed over to the Ghana Health Service (GHS). He emphasized the importance of these health infrastructure investments, particularly for communities located far from the main town, as it will improve access to healthcare.

Ayoo also mentioned that the Assembly is undertaking renovation works and other development projects to improve living conditions and promote socio-economic growth. However, he expressed concern over the delay in the construction of the Sawaba CHPS compound and has requested the contractor to explain the reasons for the delay. Ayoo urged residents to take responsibility for the projects and protect public infrastructure to ensure the investments serve their intended purpose.

He further stated that the Assembly's development interventions are intended to complement national efforts to improve education and healthcare delivery, thereby promoting development in the Municipality.
