Bhopal’s Moti Masjid Barricading Under Review, MANIT Experts Explore Alternatives

Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Authorities in the city are reconsidering the barricades near Moti Masjid Crossing due to complaints from traders about traffic restrictions. A meeting between traffic police officials and experts from Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) was held on Tuesday to discuss potential alternatives to the barricades.

The meeting aimed to explore arrangements that would prevent congestion while minimizing inconvenience to traders and customers. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) officials and the Public Works Department (PWD) also participated in the meeting.

Traffic police officials stated that these agencies would play a crucial role in implementing any alternative arrangements, as the infrastructural changes and design of the new traffic system would be their responsibility. The experts and officials examined old photographs and videos of the area, which provided insights into the traffic patterns and the issues caused by the current barricading setup.

Basant Kumar Kaul, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), mentioned that MANIT experts would analyze the current traffic situation and engage with traders to better understand their concerns before submitting their report.

A decision on the matter will be made only after receiving the report and holding a meeting with all concerned parties. The barricades were installed following complaints of four-wheelers entering Moti Masjid Crossing from the wrong direction, leading to traffic jams on the Sadar Manzil route.
