‘Ajit Doval’s agent’: Fake IAS officer arrested

A man who falsely identified himself as an IAS officer and claimed to have connections with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval has been arrested in Bihar's Khagaria district, according to police sources. The arrest occurred following a raid at the suspect's residence in Jamalpur, where law enforcement recovered a Tesla vehicle, an SUV, imported liquor, and various other items. The accused, identified as Manish Gupta from Jamalpur, was apprehended on Sunday after a tip-off led to the police raid.

During questioning, Gupta allegedly produced documents to support his claims of being a government official and an undercover agent associated with Ajit Doval. He produced a Central Vigilance Commission card and an identity card stating his IAS officer status, both of which were deemed fake by the investigating officers. Gupta also presented a Tesla car with a full self-driving feature, an SUV, and several other luxury items that drew particular attention due to their rarity in India.

Among the seized items were over 31 liters of imported foreign liquor, more than 31 iPhones, 20 credit cards, eight debit cards, and four cheque-books. Police are now investigating whether Gupta's alleged fraudulent activities are linked to the recovered assets. The Bihar Police are also examining Gupta's properties and assets, with assistance from specialized agencies like the Economic Offences Unit, to determine how he acquired his wealth and if it was connected to the alleged fraudulent activities.

The investigation into Gupta's alleged impersonation, fraud, and the source of his assets is ongoing. The police action came after receiving information about Gupta posing as a senior government official. Further details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
